Due to some schedule changes we decided to skip South America, it will have to wait for Running Around the Planet: The Sequel. Our new final destination is the Basque Country in Spain to meet up with some friends we met on our trek of the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal. However it was cheaper to fly from Cape Town, South Africa to London, England than directly to Spain so we stopped off for a few days and crashed with some friends in London.
We only had 2 days to tour London so it was a quick trip. Being on the tail end of the trip we didn't want to squeeze in too much so we took it easy with runs in the morning and only a few sights each day.
Our first day we visited the Borough market where Abby ogled at all the fresh produce and cheeses. We followed that up with a tour along the Thames around the Tower Bridge.
Then on to the Tate Modern, a free modern art museum in Central London.
It was a nice change of pace from the typical museums we had been visiting on our trip since we hadn't been to an art museum since Perth.
The next day after sleeping in a little and a run through the park we headed to Big Ben and the House of Parliament.
From there it was on to Buckingham Palace by way of St James's Park, which was just starting to bloom with all the spring flowers.
We didn't get to see the changing of the guards, but the guards on duty we still fun to watch.
After that is was back to the Underground for the ride home.
Thanks to James and Marisa for the soft bed, the nice place and showing us the ropes of London.
